In stock : 2Inspired by Olafur Eliasson’s public intervention project Ice Watch — a series of Greenlandic glacial boulders that melt in public spaces — and with a title that nods to his artistic nomenclature, Our Achromatic Future offers a unique perspective in conversation with both Olafur and our fragile arctic ecosystems. An interpretation of the 2016 work, Arctic Ocean I, as featured in Earth Works: Mapping the Anthropocene, the topographical UV inkjet print on aluminum panel presents the ice as a grave-site within the landscape of the image. As the topography is inverted, the real-time disappearing ice in the arctic caps melts into the background of the image. Rather than a contrast to the environment, it is a ghostly disappearance within it.
